The Russian Federal Nuclear Center () is testing a software platform it is developing based on the Synergy operating system (OS), Andrey Trishchenkov, Deputy Head of the IT and Power Supply Service of the Federal Nuclear Center, told TAdviser in September. According to him, testing began in the spring of 2015.

As of autumn 2015, working versions of Synergy are being tested in some enterprise systems, for example, in the ERP system.

Load tests on ERP were carried out based on 2.5-3 thousand users - this is the number of them that actually works in the system. On a test number of users on the ERP system, the platform did not show any fundamental differences in performance from the Windows OS, says Trishchenkov.

“We were faced with the task of ensuring that productivity, first of all, did not fall, but whether there would be a gain in terms of performance in the future is an open question,” said Trishchenkov, adding that in other respects “Synergy” is also not fundamentally different from Windows .

In a conversation with TAdviser, a representative of the RFNC noted that large organizations from other industries are showing great interest in the platform being developed. In addition to Russian Railways, with which the nuclear center cooperates on a number of software developments, Rostec, Rosneft, Gazprom and a host of other companies are also interested in it.

Existing versions of the platform are not yet transferred to third-party organizations for testing, because it is still under development. In addition, in the form in which the working solution is now, it may not be of interest to everyone. “It needs to be brought to a final, commercial product,” notes Trishchenkov.

A separate part of the infrastructure platform based on the Synergy OS is the hardware. According to TAdviser’s interlocutor, in this area RFNC-VNIIEF has cooperation with the Research Institute of Measuring Systems, which is part of Rosatom. Sedakova, where the development of hardware components is underway.

Development of a platform based on the Synergy OS

One of the RFNC-VNIIEF presentations on IT development in Rosatom, published in March 2015, highlights some details about the developed import-independent platform based on the Synergy OS. In particular, about its functional features and areas of application.

Regarding the first, it is indicated that Synergy OS is a 64-bit operating system with mandatory access control and resource sharing. The platform based on it contains a first-level hypervisor with a multi-domain I/O structure. It also provides integration of the PostgreSQL DBMS and certification of the DBMS as part of the operating system. The platform does not require the use of imposed information security measures.

The platform based on the Synergy OS will be able to simultaneously work in three networks with information of varying degrees of confidentiality (state secrets, chipboard, Internet) using thin client technology, including work with engineering applications CAD, CAM, CAE, as indicated in the presentation.

It can be used at autonomous workplaces to build automated systems in a protected version, in real-time automated process control systems, in virtual automated process control systems, in control and protection systems (CPS) and physical protection systems (PPS).

According to the presentation, the platform based on the Synergy OS can be used in geographically distributed information and control channels in a secure design and in functionally distributed computing systems.

According to the developers, by the end of 2015 the platform is planned to be certified for operation in the circuit of chipboards and state secrets, and in 2016-2017. develop its functionality and provide support for product versioning at enterprises.

2014: Development of an OS to replace Windows

In Sarov (RFNC-VNIIEF) is developing its own OS called “Synergy”, the deputy director for IT of the nuclear center reported in May 2014 Oleg Krivosheev. He told TAdviser that the system being developed uses the Linux kernel, and about 70 employees of the nuclear center are involved in its creation. At the time of the message, the pilot version of the Synergy OS is already being used in “special systems”.

The development of the Synergy OS is carried out as part of ensuring import independence created by the center (TIS YaOK), which is planned to be replicated over time at all enterprises in the industry, and in the future to develop a standard platform for defense industry enterprises based on this system. The Sarov Nuclear Center acts as a testing ground for the use of TIS NWC.”

Synergy is an interesting functional application designed to improve communication between multiple computers. By taking advantage of its suite of tools, users can use one mouse and keyboard on multiple computers at once. Active user actions will be repeated on all devices on the network, since the program uses a special TCP/IP transmission protocol via port 24800.

Before starting to work with the program, it is recommended to check the status and availability of the port, since otherwise the functionality of the utility will not work. The only drawback of the application is the lack of transmission encryption, so the channel can be intercepted by third parties or malware. To prevent this from happening, you should adapt a tunneled network connection or connect security plugins.

Download the full Russian version of Synergy for free from the official website without registration and SMS.

The RFNC-VNIIEF Nuclear Center, part of Rosatom, has completed the creation of the Synergy-DB DBMS. The system is based on the open source PostgreSQL DBMS. Synergy-DB makes it possible to use mandatory access control, which makes it suitable for working with high-level state secrets.

Development of "Synergy-DB"

The Russian nuclear center FSUE "RFNC-VNIIEF" has completed the development of a secure database management system "Synergy-DB". The system was created based on the open source PostgreSQL DBMS. PostgreSQL is a relational DBMS for UNIX-like platforms, written by the community of developers of the same name in the SQL language, with the addition of C and C++.

Direct work on the creation of the Synergy-DB system was carried out by Russian company Postgres Professional, founded by PostgreSQL developers and awarded a contract based on the results open competition. According to the head of the RFNC-VNIIEF project Andrey Popov The contractor did a good job.

The development took place within the framework of a contract that was received by Postgres LLC professional development» (Postgres Professional) based on the results of the RFNC-VNIIEF tender, which ended in October 2016. With a starting price of the lot of p 26.7 million, the contract with the winner was concluded for p 26.2 million. There was no competition for the company at the tender.

In conversation with CNews CEO Postgres Professional Oleg Bartunov confirmed that all work was carried out within the framework of this agreement.

Scope of application and compatibility

Synergy-DB can be used to store data in enterprises that require an increased level of information security. Potential customers are representatives of the nuclear weapons and defense industry, as well as federal and regional government agencies.

The RFNC-VNIIEF nuclear center is located in the closed city of Sarov

"Synergy-DB" allows you to organize access large quantity users to data of varying degrees of secrecy. It is designed to work with two domestic operating systems - Synergy-OS v.1.0 and Astra Linux Special Edition. Thanks to this, the DBMS receives data about user credentials via the security provider.

Security providers have a modular structure. This allows you to expand the list of supported operating systems without changing the source code. At the same time, the DBMS is certified as a separate product from the OS, so it can be tailored to the requirements of a specific customer and the resulting modification can be quickly certified. Supported OS providers will not be involved in this process.

Access control

"Synergy-DB" uses discretionary differentiation of access rights, that is, for each user in relation to each information object, access rights are set separately. This can be done either by the owner assigned to the object or by the administrator of the entire system.

Discretionary differentiation is combined in Synergy-DB with mandatory access control, in which each information object has its own confidentiality label, on the basis of which users are given permission to familiarize themselves with this data. federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC) of Russia stipulates mandatory management as mandatory when working with high-level state secrets - 1B and 1B.

Mandatory management can be found in DBMS Linter, Oracle Database and PostgreSQL starting from version 9.2. Like discretionary delimitation, it is implemented in the Astra Linux Special Edition OS. SUSE Linux and Ubuntu have the AppArmor mandatory access control system.

"Synergy-DB" allows for identification and authentication, as well as clearing RAM and permanent memory after use. The security event logging module is independent of system logging. The developers claim that Synergy-DB implements all the capabilities of PostgreSQL.

Who participated in the project

Russian Federal Nuclear Center - All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) is a federal state unitary enterprise(FSUE) as part of the state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom. The institute, founded in 1946, is located in the closed city of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod region. Over the years of its existence, the center has made a great contribution to the implementation of the USSR nuclear weapons program. In 2011, the institute launched the most powerful supercomputer in the Russian Federation at that time. In the same year, the active development of the IT direction began, as a result of which in 2016 a secure complete management system was created life cycle“Digital Enterprise” products.

Postgres Professional was founded by three Russian PostgreSQL DBMS developers, including the company's CEO Oleg Bartunov. In 2015, the consortium led by Postgres Professional became the winner of the competition for import-substituting IT projects of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications in the “Database Management Systems” category. In 2016, the company completed the creation of its own Postgres Pro DBMS, which, according to the developers, is an “improved version” of PostgreSQL. The PostgreSQL DBMS is present in Unified register domestic software.

Experts from the Center for the Study of Regional Problems have identified the most notable IT projects developed within the framework of the Russian anti-crisis program, including import substitution. The third and fourth places were taken operating system"Synergy" and the "Elbrus" processor, respectively.

The Synergy operating system is the most famous project of “Russian Windows”, created by JSC Russian Railways and the Russian Federal Nuclear Center (RFNC-VNIIEF). A pilot version of the operating system has already been written and is being tested by the Sarov Nuclear Center. On March 25, it became known that Synergy OS was already undergoing certification.

The Elbrus family of processors is a development of the domestic company MCST. The processors are built according to the “wide command word” scheme. For most programs, the performance of one execution thread on Elbrus is higher than on an equal-frequency Intel Core processor.

The top 5 IT projects also included the National Payment Card System (NSPC JSC, 100% of the shares of NSPK JSC belong to the Central Bank Russian Federation), Unified State Information system social security (Pension Fund Russia) and the My Office suite of office applications (New Cloud Technologies company).

Among startups Russian enterprises small and medium-sized businesses that are engaged in the development of IT products, the Center’s specialists noted Promobot (“living” robots), “3D Bioprinting Solutions” (bioprinting), Fibrum (virtual reality gadget). These companies, according to the Center’s specialists, have significant potential to significantly accelerate the development of innovative activities.

Development information technologies in conditions of an economic crisis caused by a number of objective factors, largely determines the competitiveness of the Russian economy as a whole and not only within the framework of import substitution. The Russian IT industry is already demonstrating a significant increase in the share of solutions from domestic developers and manufacturers.

The study analyzed public projects launched between 2014 and 2015. The key economic indicators projects: volume of investment, project profitability, social significance and multiplier effect of the project for the economy. The audience of the project and other components of profitable implementation of systems are analyzed.

“The economic crisis, and especially the policy of sanctions, seriously affected the development of the IT industry in Russia. IN better side. It would be strange to hope that in a year and a half the country will have its own Microsoft and Intel. However, recent industry trends point in the right direction. The projects that are included in the top 5 represent only some of the work done, which would have been impossible without the sanctions policy and current economic problems,” said Mikhail Sokolovsky, leading analyst at the Center for the Study of Regional Problems.
