• No exorbitant requirements. As you know, law enforcement officers must have good physical fitness. In order to enter the service in the OMON, it is enough to be at least 175 cm tall, have a strong body and be under 25 years old. Military service in the army is mandatory. • Social benefits. Although there are not as many social benefits as we would like, they do exist. In fact, OMON-sheep have the same benefits as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. For example, due to the fact that the health of OMON sheep must be at the highest level, they are treated for free, including for serious diseases. If an employee is injured in the line of duty, they will immediately help him - and, of course, they will also give him a sick leave. In addition, the annual number of vacation days for riot police officers is greater than for employees of other services.
• Regular physical activity. Despite the fact that the riot police, it would seem, do not always have work (not every day there are riots on the streets), they never sit idle. Regular training, exercise, business trips, military exercises in different conditions help to stay in shape. The need to solve various kinds of tasks (both law enforcement and the fight against actual violations of the order) also makes both body and mind tense.
• Salary stability. Despite the fact that the salary is relatively low, it is paid regularly. The amount of salary from month to month also does not change. The level of pensions for OMON officers is also higher than for representatives of other professions, and the retirement age, due to harmfulness, is lower.
• Visible well-being. If at least one person is told that “I work in the OMON”, it is likely that he will be surprised, because it sounds very prestigious. Moreover, if you put on an outfit and go, say, to guard the park during public festivities, many will look at you with respect and even fear. Yes, it's a little, and yet - sometimes it's nice.

• Low salary. Despite the fact that the profession is directly related to the risk to life, the salaries of riot police are not as high as it might seem. Even in Moscow, the minimum wage ranges from 35,000 to 40,000 rubles - the cost varies depending on the term and region of service. It seems to some that for a profession directly related to risks to life, this is not the highest salary.
• Lack of collateral. Bureaucracy is a problem for many state organizations in Russia, and OMON is no exception. • Bad organization. More than once or twice, discussions of a well-known interview published in 2015 appeared on Internet forums - an OMON officer anonymously reported that the organization was disgusting, “no one knows how to shoot”, everyone uses only batons, a lot is deducted from wages, in As a result, the employees themselves have no money left. For some time now, OMON has become an integral part of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. However, such changes do not affect the work and life of special forces. I was born in Vladivostok. He studied at the university with a degree in construction. In the army he served in the special forces of the GRU. After that, he firmly decided to connect his life with the service. As a result, he ended up in a special law enforcement unit, - Sergey was brief in describing his pre-service period.

- GRU is the dream of many guys, probably, unlike OMON ...

The GRU commando is a narrow specialty of an intelligence officer. There, the personnel are faced with extremely specific tasks. OMON officers have broader tasks and different responsibilities.

- What is he, an average OMON fighter?

- Most of the squad members are professionally involved in sports, while each has his own hobby. Basically, my colleagues are interesting and versatile people.

- Sergey, describe your working day.

Rise at six in the morning. There are situations when they wake up at night. After charging breakfast and the way to work. The doctor sees us every day. At the divorce, the fighters are brought to the operational situation around the region and the city. After I go to the gym, where I practice wrestling techniques. This is an essential part of our service. On average, an employee spends two hours a day at the gym. Dinner. This is followed by theoretical training: the study of orders, laws, training in the provision of medical care. We can say that a fighter is constantly learning and honing his skills.

The fighters of our unit are involved in the suppression of various crimes. For example, last autumn we went to detain a resident of Vladivostok, who, in a state of intoxication, began to shoot at people with a traumatic weapon. There was a call to the Khasan district, where the poachers opened fire. OMON fighters go to places where special training and security support are required during operations.

- Have you been to hot spots?

For six years of service, I have been on a business trip three times in the North Caucasus region. There, in principle, the same situations arise as here. However, the population is different. They have their own rules and traditions. You quickly get acquainted with these nuances after arrival. On our last business trip, we were deployed on the border with Georgia, where we cooperated with the border guards. They mainly worked in the forest and mountainous areas, went on raids and carried out activities aimed at finding weapons depots and searching for militants. A business trip is a period of round-the-clock being in a state of combat readiness.

- What is the difference between the work of OMON, for example, from SOBR and other special forces?

The tasks before the OMON and SOBR are, at first glance, similar, but the SOBR is more often involved in operations against armed criminals. Initially, OMON provided cover for public security police officers, and SOBR provided cover for criminal police officers. The riot police have a wider range of tasks, which is why they attract us more often. Over the past year, we have completed more than 720 special events. They and we are part of the law enforcement system. The primary task of our unit is to ensure the safety of civilians and the life of the city. It can be noted that after the transfer to the Russian Guard, they began to use us more often in the city.

- I wonder if your squad is fully staffed or new fighters are required?

Right now we are looking for new fighters! As I said, we are increasingly being called upon to perform various tasks. This is probably why the number of riot police was increased. Those who wish have a real opportunity to join our ranks. There are still vacancies. Good health, no lower than secondary education, and military service are required. I can say that the most difficult thing for candidates is to pass a polygraph and a psychologist. Out of every 10 people, 2-3 enter the service.

As you know, each work has its own value and is paid in proportion to the time and labor spent. But sometimes work is not only the cost of labor, time, but also a constant risk to life and health. There are few such areas, in particular, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations or security services.

For example, the work of OMON officers is directly related to the risk to life, not everyone dares to join this power structure.

OMON was formed back in the USSR, at its very end, the organization had several names, including the “Special Purpose Police Detachment”, after changing the police to the police, the structure slightly changed its name. But the essence remains the same - to ensure security in a high-risk area, for example, during civil unrest, terrorist threats and other unrest, one way or another, threatening stability in the country. OMON is a developed power structure, currently includes more than one hundred and sixty detachments and more than forty thousand fighters.

Despite this, there is always a shortage of employees in the OMON units, even on Internet bulletin boards you can find official proposals to join the OMON.

Is it possible to get into the OMON after the army

OMON provides experience in military service. It is desirable that you are not just a reserve soldier, but become an officer or warrant officer. It will not be superfluous to have a military education and service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the police behind them.

There are a lot of those who want to try their hand at OMON in Russia among young men and men. Therefore, the first advice is to choose a direction and follow it steadily. A step-by-step instruction for a soldier to enroll in the ranks of the OMON looks like this:

1. Try to get into the intelligence service, the Airborne Forces or the FSB.
2. To do this, you must have an education, preferably graduate from a military university.

Salaries, even for guardsmen of the same specialty and rank, can be different, which is associated with a complex scheme for calculating monetary allowance, which takes into account:

• material aid.

First, let's figure out why you need it. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with this structure: there I talked about the features of work, tasks and much more from the “inner kitchen”, something that you won’t read on the Internet. In general, 2 main categories get jobs in the OMON: young guys after the army or active employees are transferred from other units.

Let's look at the motivation behind each of them. With current employees, everything is clear - in the OMON the salary is higher (on average by 8-10 thousand) than in the OVO or teaching staff and preferential length of service - a year for 1.5. Those. You can retire after only 13.5 years of service. A police officer from another service writes a report, just like those who get a job "from a civilian" pass the standards and, with successful results, transfer to the service. There were also cases of a simplified transfer from the Federal Penitentiary Service.

After the army mainly come for two reasons:

• Romantics are those who have not played enough "in the war" and want to work in the special forces, but due to their education / physical data / experience they cannot enlist in the special forces.
• Pragmatists are those who want to receive an above-average salary and benefits package, but do not have the education/knowledge for another skilled job.

Now let's deal with the conditions

In order to get a job, you need to meet the standard requirements for a police officer:

• Age from 18 to 35 years. In fact, I have not seen people over 27 years old come. By this age, usually, the craving for adventures has already passed and you want a quiet job.
• No convictions or warrants. There are exceptions to this rule. For example, if you had a drive in your youth for drinking alcohol, but otherwise you fit and behave adequately, then most likely they will meet. Difficulties may arise due to the criminal records of relatives. If there was something serious, there is a high probability of getting a refusal. If not serious, then the way out is simple. Recommendations have now entered the practice - a paper written in any form from an existing employee, that he knows you, recommends you from the positive side and is ready to vouch. So, if there are problems in this direction, think in advance who you can turn to for help.
• Health category A1. Health must be excellent. With serious illnesses, you should not even try your hand. If there are minor problems, then, as they say, act at your own peril and risk. Keep in mind that there is an option to get a medical waiver. I will write in detail about the passage of the medical examination below.
• Passing psychological testing and a polygraph. After the infamous story of a police major who fired from service weapons in Moscow (if I'm not mistaken, it was 2009) and several other similar but less well-known cases, paranoid attention began to be paid to psychological testing. And from 2012-13, they began to use another lie detector before applying for a job with the police.
• Passing standards for physical training and hand-to-hand combat. For ordinary units, the requirements are much softer than for riot police. Here, in addition to the “fizuhi”, you also need to pass the fights - usually it’s 3 rounds of 3 minutes each. The first is wrestling, according to the rules of sambo, the second is striking, arms and legs, the third is complex, according to the rules of hand-to-hand combat.
• Education must be at least secondary - 11 grades of a school or vocational school.
• Military service.

Usually they come to the position of a soldier of an operational platoon. Those who were a sapper in the army can apply for a position in the ITO (engineering department). With a diploma from an institute or university, they rarely immediately take on an officer position. As a rule, if a person comes after the army with a higher education, they offer 2 options - first go to another police unit, and then transfer, or through the position of a fighter.

I’ll clarify right away that the further process of career growth can drag on for years.
A fighter can rise in rank to a senior warrant officer.

The first officer position is the squad leader (junior lieutenant / lieutenant). There are also vacancies for drivers, because many different technologies.
Already in the process of work, if there is a free vacancy, they can be sent for additional training, for example, as a cynologist.

How to get into the OMON after the army

If you are still in the service at the moment and are familiarizing yourself with the conditions of employment in advance, there is advice. Take a testimonial from the place of service and, if possible, ask the commanders (company commander, unit commander) to write a recommendation. This will come in handy later.

Employment process - step by step instructions

Here you are demobilized, a military ID is in your hands and you are burning with the desire to serve in the riot police.

The first thing to do is contact the HR department. I will provide contact information in most regions on the "Contacts" page. If you don’t find yours or the data becomes outdated, google it, there is nothing secret about it. It is better to call in advance and check if there are currently open vacancies and at what time it is better to drive up to apply. Write down what you need to take with you. Usually this is a passport and a military ID.
When you arrive, get ready for the fact that you will first need to communicate with the direct commander - platoon or company. They will ask who you are and why you want to work. It is better to answer honestly and think over the answers in advance. Then fill out the questionnaire in the personnel department and get a referral to the medical board. Write down everything they say so you don't forget. Then they will send you to pass the commission and will wait for the results from you.

Medical Commission

You need to go through 2 commissions: first at the place of residence, then VVK. The residence commission is:

• main dispensaries: tuberculosis (fluorography), narcological and psychiatric dispensaries (certificates that you are not registered)
• doctors in the polyclinic at the place of residence (oculist, surgeon, therapist - a complete list will be written in the direction)
• analysis of blood, urine, cardiogram.

Keep in mind that the test results are valid for only 10 days, so do not delay the passage of the IVC. Otherwise, you will have to waste time and retake some of them. VVK is held in the polyclinic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in your city. Everything is standard, as and when they were taken into the army.

Everything about everything will take 7-10 days, if you do not waste time. After receiving a positive conclusion, you will be assigned a date for passing physical tests.

Delivery of standards

Then 2 options - if you did not pass, then if there is a desire to get a job in the riot police, they will set a date for re-passing the test. Usually after 2-3 months. If you passed successfully, then they will either take you right away - if there are free vacancies, or they will first be sent to another unit (OVO, convoy), and then they will send a request for a transfer to them, after the workplace is vacated. There is nothing wrong with that - for the first six months you will still be trained at the Training Center - it is common to the entire regional police department.
