The Marketplace is one of the most popular and core features of Steam. You can make good money by selling in-game items, especially if you understand the value of items and have some market trading skills. Unfortunately, the Steam market is not initially available to all users. It is not enough to simply register an account to gain access to it; for this you will need to fulfill a number of conditions.

Using the Steam Market

All players who do not have limits on their account can easily access this section through "Community" > "Marketplace".

In this case, it opens without additional difficulties and is available for selling and purchasing goods.

However, new and limited accounts do not have access to these features. The reason is always indicated in the market section itself. In the screenshot below you can see two errors at once that do not allow you to use this subsection of Steam: no purchases have been made on the account for a long time and it has certain restrictions. Chances are you've also encountered some of these conditions. Let's look at them, as well as other possible problems, in more detail.

Any blocking and restrictions are related to security: this is how Steam tries to prevent the possible theft of items, which often follows after accounts are hacked.

Limited account

Most often, restrictions are set due to the fact that the account has been registered, but not verified: to do this, you must make a purchase of $5 or simply put this money in your Steam wallet without spending it until you want. You can top up your wallet in parts - they will be added up until the total is $5. Until you do this, the account will have the status "Limited", which will significantly complicate its use. In particular, in addition to the blocked site, you will not be able to send friend requests and use many other functions. In the article at the link below, we explained how to purchase the game on Steam. You need to use exclusively Method 1, since the payment must be made through the internal system of the service.

When using another currency, the amount of purchases or deposits into the Steam wallet must be equivalent to the current dollar exchange rate. You can find it through a search engine or in the online bank/electronic payment system you use.

A beginner may notice that in the right corner there is an inscription "You don't have a Steam Wallet", however, you don’t need to create it - it will appear on its own after the first deposit of money to your wallet.

Purchase made less than 7 days and more than 1 year ago

Another problem is the infrequent use of Steam. To confirm your intention to use the market, at least once a year you must make a purchase on Steam, be it a game or the Marketplace (who previously had it unlocked) for any amount. Moreover, in our case, you will additionally need to wait 7 days after making the purchase, naturally without returning the game or demanding money back. If you do this, the restriction will resume.

Disabled Steam Guard

Steam Guard is necessary to protect your account. When it is disabled, you will not be able to use the Marketplace until you enable one of its two types. If you are not satisfied with using a mobile authenticator, use linking your account to your email. To enable it, go to "Settings". This can be done immediately through the top panel or RMB on the Steam icon in the tray.

On the tab "Account" click the button "Manage Steam Guard Settings...".

From the proposed options, choose the first or second depending on your needs. Linking Steam Guard to your email requires you to log in to your account again, don't forget this.

Important! Once enabled, you will need to wait 15 days - after which the Marketplace will be unlocked and become available. Removing and re-enabling will reset the day counter. After deleting the mobile authenticator and switching to confirmation by mail, the market will be blocked for 15 days.

The SteamBroker.com service provides a platform for trade in things from the digital distribution service Steam. On our site you can buy from other users or sell themselves any items from your inventory, which can be transferred via Steam trade offer. Most people who live outside of Russia have encountered such a problem as overpaying when buying games and things on Steam. To pay less, you need to convert the trading platform into rubles, which I will talk about in this article.

Some statistics:
CS:GO price: $9.99 - 650 rub.
If Steam is in rubles, then the price is 450 rubles

So, let's get started:
1) Set the country Russia, city Moscow (preferably) in Steam.
You can change it back later.
2) Download any VPN (I used.)
I advise you to use it too, because... it is not fired by Steam.
DO NOT USE BROWSER EXTENSIONS!
Below are the setup instructions:

1) Enter your key and select the OS.
3) Select the connection method:

1) Click download (green button).
2) Install the downloaded file and run it.
3) Select the country “Russia” and the city specified in paragraph 1.
4) Click connect.

Are you connected?
Let's move on to point 3.
If not, read the next spoiler.

This is also suitable if the method with HideME.ru VPN did not work.

1) Click the "Next" button.
2) Select the item "Compatibility: (TCP, the most stable connection)".
Click "Next" and "Download configuration".
3) Download OpenVPN from the link.
4) Install, during the installation process we agree to everything.
5) Open the folder where you installed it and unzip the downloaded archive into the folder with the program.
We agree to a replacement.
6) Launch. You will see an icon in your tray

Right-click on it.
7) Select “Russia” and the city specified in step 1. Connect.

Let's move on to point 3.

If you have any errors when connecting, there are solutions at the end of the article!

3) Go to the right and select “Russia (rub.)”.

4) Choose any game in the store and add it to the cart.

Note! At the top there should be "Country: Russia".
5) We buy the game in a way convenient for you (WMR, QIWI, Yandex.Money).

After purchasing the game, your balance will be transferred to rubles (instantly). All prices will be in rubles.

UPD To change the currency, you must not purchase or activate games within 48 hours before the currency change

Now about the errors and their solutions.

Q: When connecting via "HideME.ru VPN" it hangs at "Starting OpenVPN"
A: Use the second method - OpenVPN GUI.

Q: When starting OpenVPN GUI it says:

OpenVPN GUI does not support more than 50
configurations.

A: Go to the "config" folder and delete all files except these:

Q: After connecting to a VPN, Steam doesn't load pages well.
A: Use the browser, not the Steam client.

Q: When I try to buy a game it says:

An unexpected error occurred. Your purchase has not been completed.
Contact Steam Support.

A: Change VPN.

It became clear that someone would make good money from it. And of course I don’t mean Valve :) Everything is clear with them. The note essentially consists of several directly or indirectly related episodes.
Episode #1. One of my good friends from Steam asked a question - how can a new game, with a price on Steam of 1000 rubles, cost 500 rubles from some of my friends? At that time, I could not find an adequate answer. After all, even if resellers bought the game at some discount, for new games they are not so great and the price will never be so low. But resellers also need to earn money...
Episode #2. Steam Marketplace and Cards. Once again I am convinced that Valve employs brilliant marketers (I think that’s what it’s called). I think you know what I mean. In my opinion, with the advent of gaming cards, they reached a new level. Let's see what's happening right now. As you know, New Year's cards will be available on Steam until January 3rd. I won’t explain now what it is and why it is needed. If you are reading this, most likely you are already aware of the matter. Try opening a trading platform and selecting, for example, lot Snow Globe #1. Observe the dynamics while refreshing the page. Have you noticed price fluctuations of 1-2 rubles? Are you smart? :)
Episode #3. "Cursed be the one who bought this lot!" :) When purchasing the same cards, you will most likely encounter the fact that the lot will already be purchased by someone. Unless, of course, you buy a more expensive position. Or maybe you don’t care - after all, an overpayment of 1-2 rubles means nothing to you. The first thought that arises in this case is that it would be nice to automate the entire purchasing process. Attention! Valve doesn't welcome any automation of trading operations and your Steam account may simply be blocked. History already knows cases of “frayers” who were ruined by “greed.” The warning has been given, which means it’s time to consider possible solutions to the problem. If we are talking about banal purchase automation, then we don’t have to create anything complicated here. For example, using the plugin for Firefox and Chrome iMacros, in half an hour it is quite possible to create scripts (I used JavaScript and, of course, the built-in language of the plugin) that completely automate the process of purchasing a lot at a given price (or lower). For more advanced things you will probably have to write a full-fledged "bot". The complexity of development will certainly increase. But the resulting possibilities can be called limitless. However, the bot developer should first of all think about placing his creation as “close” to the trading platform servers as possible. This is obvious - a long delay in such cases only increases the likelihood that the tasty item will be bought by someone else.
Episode #4. Having received something that speeds up interaction with the trading platform, the most “entrepreneurial” ones have the idea that by playing on this very difference of 1-2 rubles from Episode #2, they can get benefits. Yes, that’s exactly what I’m talking about - the most common (for probably not very advanced people, though...) speculation. Let's try to return to Episode #2 and observe a little... Literally after five minutes of review, I managed to find several working “bots”, in all likelihood belonging to the same person. Meet:
AntonBur, IcqBur, OlyaBur, KolyaBur. Their author didn’t even bother to disguise himself :) Pay attention to the profiles and list of friends - I suspect that most of the people on this list are also bots. In the five minutes that I watched the lot, according to my rough estimates, only one of them was able to earn from 30 to 80 rubles from the resale of cards. Not bad, right?
Episode #5. Who needs Steam virtual currency? After all, Valve does not allow you to cash out the money received or withdraw it to other payment systems. And here it is appropriate to remember Episode #1. Buying a game for 1000 and selling it for 500 through, say,

The world-famous online platform Steam allows you not only to have fun, spending hours and days playing the best computer games of our time, but also to earn real money.

What is Steam? This is a world-famous distribution service (purchase and sale) of computer games of the new millennium. A wide range of games from the world's most famous developers includes both expensive and cheap, and even free games (a striking example is Dota 2).

How to make money on Steam? On the Steam trading platform, there is an active sale of game items and cards that drop out during the gameplay, which allows players to earn good money. But this is far from the only way to make real money from your favorite activity.

Important: Steam does not allow direct withdrawals from the system; they are only available for in-store purchases. Valve Corporation is committed to maintaining strict control over speculation and preventing the site from becoming a market for mass buying and selling.

Therefore, to withdraw funds, you should use the services of third-party resources, where, by the way, there are many scammers. Valve does not engage in confrontation with such services, preferring to intervene only in the most difficult cases. Therefore... stay vigilant!

At the very beginning, you should decide what kind of activity you will engage in and on what platform the transactions will be concluded. Let's determine the most accessible and realistic ways to make money using Steam tools.

Ways to make money on the steam site

Method No. 1. Discounts

How to make money on Steam using Gift Sale? On the trading platform you can often find profitable offers to purchase any items and even games at very tempting prices. After purchasing cheaper goods, you just need to wait until prices return to their previous level. To win the attention of potential buyers, set the price tag slightly below the “market” price.

This is one of the most basic ways to earn income on Steam. In this case, earnings on Steam on the trading platform can be about $25 during one sale.

Method number 2. Game things

On the Steam trading platform, almost all registered players in the system gather and exchange (for a fee) various game items. Drops from Dota 2 and CS:GO are incomparably popular.

Some players, trying to earn money on Steam for free and quickly, use special bots and cheating programs for farming (respectively, for automatic earnings) for this purpose. But it's always risky - for such

Actions can result in severe sanctions from Valve, up to and including complete account blocking.

If you wish, you can try to trade things manually. By reselling sought-after and rare game items from the most popular games, you can earn a small percentage by buying goods at one price and selling them at an inflated price. The main thing is not to overdo it with the markup.

Method No. 3. Game cards

Any player can count on automatically and freely receiving Steam game cards during gameplay. If you receive a card that does not carry any gaming value for you personally, you can try to sell it to a buyer, for whom it will help upgrade their account, game character, or serve as a desired decoration.

How to earn cards on Steam?

Most often they drop out in sets when you reach a certain level in the game. With each new level, the quality of the cards received increases. Each set can bring the player a special badge from one of five levels - from the first to the fifth.

The difficulty is that you cannot predict for which game a set of cards will appear. This often depends on the popularity of the game and the number of badges already created by the community. Expect to frequently receive cards from visual novels, lesser-known indies, and recently added games to the Steam store.

Another option: do not sell game items, but turn them into gems, and then get a set of Steam cards.

How do cards work?

Once a player has collected all the cards in a set, he can receive a new badge. The more badges created, the higher their level. In this way, the profile level also increases, which leads to more frequent issuance of sets of cards and additional items. slots for friends.

Once the badge is pinned, the player is given: a new profile background, a discount coupon and a new chat emoticon. Both emoticons and backgrounds are also sold and are even divided into different categories: ordinary, unusual and rare. Items labeled as “rare” can cost several hundred rubles, which equates to the cost of one relatively outdated game. Another interesting fact: items for the most popular games quickly lose their starting price.

In addition to traditional cards, there are also special ones - “metal” ones, but extremely rarely. In this regard, their price can reach 400 rubles per piece. These cards also form an icon, and also a “metal” one.

Method number 4. Dota 2 and CS:GO

How to make money on Steam on the most popular games? Dota 2 developers regularly release compendiums that allow enterprising players to earn real money. What's the point?

The principle of earning money is similar to method No. 1. A compendium is purchased and the moment is expected when game items can be sold at a better price. If you land a good set, you can make a good profit.

CS:GO fans can earn money using almost the same algorithm. But it should be taken into account that the creators of Global Offensive rarely please players with a good drop. The greatest chance of getting a good drop is at the beginning of operations. Lucky players are sometimes able to cover the full cost of their games this easy way.

Method No. 5. Steam account

How to make money on Steam by selling accounts? It should be understood that this method is contrary to the rules of Steam. But in practice, such transactions are carried out without any problems, since it is almost impossible to identify the violator.

Do you have a pumped-up account with popular games and certain achievements? Perhaps another player will be interested in him. Or maybe even a whole queue of potential buyers will form. But it is absolutely not necessary to sell your own account.

The Steam store often offers promotional offers under which discounts on games reach 75%. Over time, you can collect a whole collection of games and sell them wholesale, at a price that will not only cover expenses, but also bring significant profit. However, this method is not suitable for those who are looking for how to make money on the Steam trading platform without investments.

Method number 6. Games

The simplest answer to the question “how to make money on Steam from games” is to resell a game purchased at a good discount. You can sell activation keys on various specialized forums or in online stores. It should not be forgotten that this type of transaction is risky for both the seller and the buyer.

If you have neither the time nor the desire to keep track of the most popular games and “hot” offers, there is another proven method of how to make money on games on Steam. You can search for the cheapest offers on the Internet (for example, on a resource such as Steame.ru), purchase accounts at clearly reduced prices and sell them on other highly visited resources.

What is necessary?

To successfully make money on the Steam online service you need:

* Have your own account on Steam, without which access to the site will be closed;

* Regularly monitor store updates and new promotions, in other words, keep your finger on the pulse;

* Check people using the Steam client to avoid transactions with scammers;

* Use third-party auxiliary tools. Since trading platforms are overflowing with various offers, without bots that will help increase sales volumes and not miss interesting lots, it will be difficult to achieve high profits;

* Have at least a small start-up capital. Money can be invested in the purchase of games and game items, as well as additional accounts;

* Have a registered e-wallet. Since the verification process will take some time, you should take care of registering with the EPS in advance.

And skills, where would we be without them. To achieve success in the gameplay, skill is required. Successful trading also requires skill. It is important to be able to negotiate with people, negotiate to your advantage, and be able to recognize scammers against the background of bona fide market participants.

Is such an activity advisable?

There are other methods of making money on digital distribution services, but only a few know about them. In addition, if now a certain way of how to quickly make money on Steam works, in the near future the “shop” may be closed.

Before you start, you should clearly define your goals: where will you spend your earnings - on purchasing games or for personal purposes? For the money you earn, it is quite possible to purchase the same GTA V, but earning more substantial money is very labor-intensive.

You need to have enough time and patience to constantly monitor price dynamics, the trend of consumer demand and the interest of gamers. Sometimes it’s easier to wait for a sale and buy a game at several times cheaper than its usual price tag.

Withdrawing money from your Steam account is also not easy. This cannot be done directly, except by buying in-game items and selling them in different online stores. But you should understand that such stores are very greedy - this manifests itself in large commissions, often reaching 30%.

If you learn how to make money on the Steam trading platform and gain some experience, you can receive a stable additional income. But he will not be either significant or completely passive. To count on impressive amounts, you should have several “strong” accounts that can be sold at high prices.

You just need to do everything carefully, otherwise you cannot avoid blocking your account due to violation of the User Agreement.

That’s probably all that those who are wondering how to make money on Steam need to know, and whether it makes sense.
