Installation of KiteNet equipment

The Internet for a person is now a means of providing information of interest to him. You can use the Internet as a means of communication (audio and video communication, e.g. Skype, ooVoo, etc.), view entertainment multimedia resources (movies, videos, music, pictures), make purchases of any product or service. To all the questions that arise, we already automatically begin to look for answers there.

And in general, the Internet provides us with a lot of useful things.

But in some cases, Internet access is limited or non-existent. Basically, this problem is faced when traveling to the country, to the village or somewhere else where there are no means of communication. There are several ways to create Internet access.

This article will describe the installation and configuration of the two-way satellite internet kitenet.

There are two ways to organize the Internet through a satellite dish: one-way (asymmetric, half-duplex) and two-way (symmetrical, duplex).

In the first case (one-way satellite Internet), the slow and expensive way to access the Internet acts as a channel for the request ( mobile phone with GPRS/EDGE function, ADSL connection where there is a speed limit or network access services are poorly developed). And in response to requests, our satellite dish will already receive the necessary data.

In the second case (two-way satellite Internet), data is sent and received only via satellite (no external device is needed to request, because requests, as well as data reception, will go through a satellite dish). The cost of equipment and connection is high, but it justifies itself with a more reliable connection (after all, apart from electricity, two-way satellite Internet does not need anything else).

Setting up two-way satellite Internet using equipment from KiteNet.

The KiteNet service is a joint product of Raduga Internet and Rusat. Now even a private user can afford satellite Internet, because. prices have dropped significantly. Thanks to the launch of the Yamal 402 satellite with powerful radio transmitters, it became possible to use a satellite dish with a minimum diameter of 74 cm.

Included satellite equipment from “KiteNet” includes:

1.Satellite dish.

2. Mast base.

3.Network cable.

4.iLNB converter.

5.Earphone.

CD and documentation.

Description of the installation of equipment.

To install the equipment, you will need the following tools: a bracket for attaching a satellite dish to the wall surface, wire cutters, a compass, a level, a PZ2 Phillips screwdriver, spanners(8, 10, 11 and 12 mm), cable ties.

It is necessary that the view of the antenna is not obstructed by anything (trees, houses, buildings, etc.) and the satellite signal passes unhindered.

Use a 75 ohm coaxial cable to connect the iLNB satellite transceiver to the antenna.

The satellite modem must be placed in a dry room and connected (after the antenna is pointed and tuned to the satellite) according to the following scheme:

A coaxial cable marked RX from a satellite dish must be connected to the RX connector of the satellite modem, and marked TX, respectively, to the TX connector of the modem. Connect a computer (switch, router) using a network cable ( twisted pair) to the modem's LAN socket. Next, connect the power adapter to the modem itself.

The satellite dish bracket must be securely attached to a wall or some concrete surface. Bracket pipe diameter: minimum 45mm, maximum 70mm, recommended 60mm. Using a level, fix the bracket in a vertical position and mark the holes for drilling.

Grounding.

When installing the grounding, you need to insert the M5 grounding screw, fix it on the base of the mast, tighten one of the grounding nuts with a screwdriver and an 8mm wrench.

Setting and setting the angle of inclination of the satellite dish.

Using the Satellite Antenna alighment program (you can find and download it on the Internet), you can determine the angle of inclination of the satellite dish, or use the service at dishpointer.com.

It is necessary to loosen the nuts securing the antenna tilt angle. Based on the scale, set the angle of inclination.

We install the satellite dish on the base of the mast, fix it with four M6 bolts (10 mm) and nuts with washers.

We install the holder for the satellite converter.

We install the iLNB transceiver in the latch (the screws of the latch do not need to be tightened, because later we will need to set the polarization angle).

Adjust the polarization of the satellite converter.

The figure below shows the scale on which you need to navigate when setting the polarization. Using the Satellite Antenna Alighment program, which can be found and downloaded from the Internet, we determine what value of the converter polarization should be set.

1. On the latch of the iLNB converter, you need to find the mark of the angular coordinate scale (figure below),

representing the line that separates the top and bottom of the retainer.

2. Loosen the two M3.5 screws and install the iLNB at an angle (see the antenna pointing information provided by your service provider for the angle value). You need to find the value of the transmission scale for the city closest to your location.

3. We fix the iLNB converter in the latch by tightening two M3.5 bolts.

We prepare a coaxial cable for connecting a satellite modem and antenna.

The kit comes with a two-core coaxial cable, crimped with two waterproof connectors on one end (this end of the cable is for outdoor use). The second end of the cable is not crimped, which makes it possible to reduce its length, taking into account the installation location.

1. Remove the insulating layer from the coaxial cable (figure below). Never remove or fold back the aluminum foil.

2. Bend the protective sheath of the wire onto the insulating layer of the cable.

3.Carefully, without damaging the core wire, cut off the plastic protective layer. Screw the “F”-type connector onto the cable by hand.

4. The figure below shows an example of what should happen.

To install the second “F”-type connector, repeat the four steps above.

Grounding the iLNB.

1. Connect the ground wire to the pin on the iLNB using the ground nut of the iLNB.

2. Connect the other end of the ground wire to the ground screw on the mast base (figure below).

Grounding must be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the country of use (in case of doubt, it is better to consult a qualified electrician).

Connecting the modem to the iLNB converter.

A two-wire coaxial cable is labeled “RX” and “TX” every 50 cm.

1. You need to insert the “RX” and “TX” connectors into the corresponding sockets on the iLNB converter. Use only existing waterproof connectors designed for outdoor use.

Note: When aiming the antenna, the “TX” transmission cable will need to be disconnected.

2.Insert the “TX” and “RX” connectors intended for indoor use into the corresponding sockets on the modem (use an 11 mm wrench to tighten the connectors).

Connecting a modem to a computer.

1.Use the supplied network cable. Plug the network cable into the “Ethernet” ports on the computer and modem.

2.Connect the power adapter to the modem and an outlet (see the figure below).

The modem can be mounted in three ways: vertically on a special stand, horizontally and on the wall.

Install the terminal (Terminal Installation).

Before starting the installation, you need to make sure that only one computer is connected to the modem and that the computer is configured to receive an IP address from a DHCP server.

1.Launch any web browser on your PC (Opera, Safari, Mozilla Firefox or other). An Internet connection is not required to access the modem GUI.

2. In the address bar of the browser, enter 192.168.1.1 and press the Enter key. This will open the terminal installation page.

Step 1 - Choose an outdoor module.

You need to select the type of outdoor unit according to the size of the antenna and the iLNB.

To continue, click the “Confirm” button.

Step 2 - Select the spot beam.

Select the beam ID for this location (specified in the antenna pointing information provided by the service provider).

Click the "Confirm" button to continue.

Step 3 - Antenna Pointing.

There should not be any blocking objects between the iLNB converter and the dish. During pointing, it is forbidden to be in front of the iLNB.

3.1Enabling the guidance mode in the modem.

If only one carrier frequency is preset, the following appears:

If two pointing carriers are specified, then the pre-selected carrier should be left. An error may occur during pointing, in which case it is necessary to select another carrier frequency for pointing and repeat the procedure.

Press the “Start Pointing” button to begin the pointing procedure, and then proceed to the next section, SETUP THE Point&Play DEVICE.

If the antenna is already correctly pointed, press the “Skip Pointing” button to skip the pointing procedure.

3.2Setting up the POINT&PLAY device.

With the Point&Play device, you can correctly point the antenna at the satellite. During aiming, the device emits various beeps, each of which has its own meaning.

Sound signal options:

High continuous signal (correct signal)

The antenna is pointed at the desired satellite and is receiving the strongest signal (optimum pointing position reached).

High intermittent signal

The antenna is pointed at the desired satellite, but the signal level is insufficient. You need to continue pointing, because. setting is not completed.

Low continuous signal

The antenna is pointing at a foreign satellite and is receiving a high power signal.

Extremely low continuous signal

The antenna is not receiving a signal because it is not pointed at any of the satellites.

3.3Using the POINT&PLAY device.

1. First, remove the “TX” transmission connector from the iLNB converter and connect it to the Point&Play device.

2. Connect the earphone to Point&Play (make sure Point&Play device is turned off).

3.4 Approximate vertical guidance.

The correct tilt angle was already set during the antenna installation process.

Make sure that all settings are not lost during antenna installation. Adjust if necessary.

3.5 Horizontal guidance.

Before you make horizontal (azimuth) guidance, you need to make sure that the azimuth fine adjustment bolt (1) is in the middle position (if necessary, adjust it with a 10mm wrench).

Next, you need to turn on the Point&Play device, slowly turn the volume control to the level, and the green indicator will light up. Put on the earpiece (adjust the volume if necessary) and you can start pointing.

1. Loosen the four nuts M8 of the bracket (2) - this will make it possible to move the antenna horizontally.

2.Move the antenna horizontally to the bearing angle for the nearest city to your location (refer to your service provider's instructions for pointing values). You can use a compass (keep it at a distance of more than 1.5 meters from metal structures).

3.Slowly move the antenna horizontally until you get the highest continuous tone. The antenna should be installed in the middle of the range of this high signal.

4. Using a 12mm wrench, tighten the four M8 nuts of the bracket (2). To keep the highest possible signal, tighten alternately.

3.6 Adjusting the vertical guidance (tilt guidance).

1. Loosen the two angle adjustment bolts (1)

2.Adjust the tilt angle by turning the tilt fine adjustment bolt (2) with a 10 mm wrench until the Point&Play unit produces the highest continuous beep.

3.7 Adjustment of horizontal guidance (in azimuth).

1. Loosen the four azimuth adjustment screws (1).

2. Adjust the azimuth angle by turning the azimuth angle fine adjustment bolt (2) with a 10mm wrench until the Point&Play instrument produces the highest continuous beep.

3.8 Checking the guidance.

To make sure that the antenna is resistant to external influences (wind, precipitation, etc.), carry out the following checks:

1.Check that all bolts are tight.

2.On a short time place your hand between the iLNB and the dish. Remove your hand - this should resume a continuous beep.

3. Press the antenna, while shifting its left edge, right edge and top by 3 cm, then release. If the antenna remains properly aligned, the high signal level will resume. Otherwise, you will have to reconfigure (paragraph “3.4 Approximate guidance”).

4. When the antenna is pointing correctly, the message “Correct satellite - pointed optimally” will appear on the computer monitor. You can complete the guidance.

5. If the antenna is pointing incorrectly, the message “Correct satellite - not pointed optimally” will appear on the computer monitor. Repeat the aiming procedure (section “3.4 Rough aiming”).

3.9 Completion of guidance.

1.Turn off the Point&Play device.

2. Pull out the transmission cable (Tx) from the Point&Play device and connect it to the iLNB.

3.Secure the cables to the hanger with cable ties, while avoiding excessive tension on the cables.

4. On the computer, on the modem status page, click the “Finish Pointing” button.

Modem constantly checks for updates software. If available more a new version software download starts automatically. After the download is completed, the new software version is written to the flash memory. Then the modem will automatically reboot. After the reboot, you may need to manually refresh the browser web page (usually the F5 key on your computer keyboard).

Step 5 - Checking the installation.

After step 4, the following will appear:

The modem will determine if it needs to check the quality of the installation (depending on the service provider).

If the service provider requires you to check the installation of the terminal, then you need to follow the steps from point 5.1 below.

If the vendor does not require checking the installation of the terminal, then this step is performed automatically. The installation of the terminal is completed and you can proceed to step 6 “Completing the installation”

Tariff "Freestyle_Corporate"

Tariffs with payment less than 1350 rubles per month

If you want to connect tariffs for satellite Internet costing less than 1350 rubles per month (Freestyle 100, Freestyle 250, Freestyle 500, Freestyle 1000, Breeze 1024, Breeze 2048, Breeze 4096, Breeze 6144), then you can additionally purchase an "Access Code" to the budget tariffs. This Code removes the restriction on connection and use of any service tariffs. base cost access code to tariffs costing less than 1,350 rubles per month - 6,000 rubles. With each purchase of a tariff worth at least 1,350 rubles per month, the cost of the code is reduced by 8%. After 12 months of work with two-way satellite Internet, the access code to budget tariffs is sent to the subscriber free of charge. The subscriber can purchase an access code to budget tariffs at any time.

Tariffs for satellite Internet "Surfing" costing less than 1350 rubles per month.

Tariff "BREEZE"

The cost of traffic on the tariffs of the Breeze group is the same and amounts to 0.75 rubles. for 1 MB. Within the tariff group, tariffs differ in the monthly fee for the current day, which depends on the selected speed of access to the Network.

*Declared speed may vary depending on the availability of the resource and the availability of free bandwidth in the satellite channel.

Description of the tariffs of the Freestyle group

Freestyle tariffs are the best solution for those who regularly access the Internet and can calculate and buy the necessary amount of traffic in advance. If the traffic included in the package is consumed before the end of the month, the subscriber can either purchase the next package, or wait for the beginning of the next period, or continue working in accordance with the cost of additional traffic at the selected tariff. On the tariffs of the Freestyle group, you can freely download any amount of information, arrange video conferences, use IP-telephony, play on-line games.

Description of the tariffs of the "Surfing" group

Tariffs of the "Surfing" group are designed for comfortable surfing (only page browsing), you can not download. In this group of tariffs, the volume of web traffic is not limited, but there are restrictions on downloading information. The incoming traffic management algorithm of the Surfing group tariffs is configured in such a way that it allows loading a web page of only a limited volume, after which there is a temporary decrease in the download speed, a pause occurs. With quiet surfing, this pause is almost imperceptible, as it is used by you to view the loaded page. While you are reading and viewing the page, the download speed has time to recover, which ensures comfortable surfing on the Web. However, when quickly “flipping” web pages or loading sites from large quantity graphics, restrictions may become noticeable - page loading will begin to slow down. The recovery period of the download speed after its decrease depends on the amount of information downloaded at a time and the number of simultaneously sent requests. In this regard, it is recommended to wait some time to open the links placed on the loaded page. The algorithm monitors download attempts and reduces the amount of downloaded information at a time.

Connecting the "Plus" option allows you to remove the restriction on a one-time download of information from 23:00 to 09:00 (Moscow time). The validity period of the connected “Plus” option is limited by the validity period of the selected tariff of the “Surfing” group, regardless of the date of its activation.

Freestyle tariff states

During the period of its activity, the tariff can be in one of four states:
1. Paid traffic - Internet access is open, only prepaid traffic is used
2. Prepaid traffic is exhausted - Internet access is closed, the use of additional traffic is prohibited by the option "Use additional traffic". To continue working, you need to change the state of the “Use additional traffic” option or activate a new tariff.
3. Additional traffic - Internet access is open, the use of additional traffic and the debiting of funds from the personal account for it is allowed by the corresponding option.
4. Insufficient funds - Internet access is closed, prepaid traffic is exhausted, the use of additional traffic is impossible due to insufficient funds on the Personal Account.

Possible modes and states of an ACCOUNT

"Waiting" is a special mode that automatically turns on in the following cases:
1. End of funds on the subscriber's account;
2. There are not enough funds on the subscriber's account for further prolongation of the tariff;
3. The included traffic on the "Freestyle" tariff is exhausted, and the consumption of additional traffic is disabled;
4. The set limit has been exceeded in the "Traffic limit" mode;
5. The tariff has expired, and the "Auto activation" option is disabled.

In the "Standby" mode, full-fledged work on the Internet is impossible, access is only possible to the Personal Account of the "KiteNet" user, where the subscriber is invited to take the actions necessary to resume access to the network - disable or change the appropriate options, change the tariff, etc. During the period the period of validity of your tariff, maintenance of the subscription in the "Standby" mode is carried out without debiting additional funds from the Personal Account.

Very important!!!
Upon expiration of the tariffs, for every full day the account is in the “Standby” mode, a debt of 3 rubles is accumulated for reserving a frequency resource for a subscriber terminal in the KiteNet service management system, which will be deducted automatically if the subscription is activated. Regardless of the state of the subscriber's personal account, KiteNet maintains such a reservation at its own expense for 21 days. If during these 21 days the subscriber does not take actions aimed at maintaining his subscription, the subscriber terminal is disconnected from the network and its subsequent connection is carried out on a paid basis (see "Terminal deactivation"). Replenishment of the Personal Account during the period of the "Waiting" mode leads to automatic activation of the tariff when the "Auto Activation" option is enabled and there are sufficient funds on the Personal Account. If the "Auto activation" option is disabled, the activation of the tariff must be performed by the subscriber independently.

"Terminal Deactivation"

The deactivation of the terminal (disconnection from the KiteNet network) is performed if the subscriber has not connected any of the tariffs before the end of the Standby mode. Because deactivation of the terminal is associated with the deletion of the corresponding account in the service management system of the owner of the service, reactivation of the terminal is carried out on a paid basis. The cost of reactivating the terminal is 950 rubles.

Option "Autoactivation"

This function is intended for automatic prolongation of the tariff for the next period. In the case of the tariffs of the "Social", "Freestyle" and "Surfing" groups, the prolongation takes place for a month, in the case of the tariffs of the "Breeze" group - for a day. If this feature is disabled, the account will automatically go into Pending mode when it expires. The option is connected in the Personal Account.

"Traffic restriction" mode

This mode allows you to set a traffic consumption limit for your subscription (from 100 to 500 Mb) for a time specified by you (from 1 hour to 24 hours), after which it will be deactivated and go into the "Waiting" mode. The option is enabled to avoid uncontrolled consumption of traffic on the subscriber's account. The option is connected in the Personal Account.

Option "Use additional traffic"
A setting in the Personal Account that allows you to allow or prohibit spending funds from your Personal Account to pay for additional traffic.

Other conditions

During the validity period of the tariff, you, if you wish, can activate a new (additional) “KiteNet” tariff in your Personal Account at any time and freely switch between currently available tariffs. The conditions of each of the tariffs (subscription fee, terms, speeds) are independent and do not affect the conditions of additionally connected tariffs, unless otherwise agreed.

When charging, the incoming and outgoing traffic of the subscriber is summed up.
The above prices include all taxes. 1GB = 1000Mb = 1"000"000Kb = 1"000"000"000Byte.

The speed of information transfer (incoming and outgoing traffic) may vary depending on the availability and parameters of the server on which the Internet resource is located, weather conditions at the place where the requested information is received and sent to the satellite, as well as the availability of free bandwidth in the satellite channel.

Bilateral satellite Raduga-Internet is the internet where you want it.

From the home computer, the user sends a request to the Internet, which, using the VSAT terminal, is sent to the satellite via the request channel. The satellite relays the request to the provider's server, from where it is sent to the Internet. The response from the network follows the opposite path - first it comes to the provider's server, from there it is transmitted to the satellite and is received from the satellite by the user through the incoming channel. Since the channels work simultaneously, hence the name of this type of access - "two-way", "symmetrical", "synchronous", "duplex".

Note! Permission to use the equipment is issued by the State Committee for Radio Frequencies for the operator, which relieves the subscriber of the legal risks associated with the use of two-way satellite communications.

Two-way satellite Internet Kite Net
