"We've sorted out all the settings for the upcoming video meeting. In this part I will talk about how to directly conduct this meeting, i.e. How to manage Google Hangouts broadcast.

Go to your channel, go to the “video manager” section and open the “live broadcasts” subsection. Find our broadcast and click on the “Start Hangouts Live Video Meeting” button.

A pop-up window will appear in which you will see yourself, because... The web camera, settings panels and the “Start broadcast” button are automatically activated upon startup


In the screenshot you see a window that appeared for me and instead of a video there is my photo - this is because I turned off the camera. If you do not broadcast yourself on camera, then a photo from the Google+ page is substituted instead, as in my case.

I would like to note that the broadcast has not yet started, i.e. We have already opened the broadcast control window, but until the green “Start broadcast” button is pressed, our viewers will not see anything. If we click on this button, the live broadcast will begin regardless of what time we specified in the settings.

1. Main settings panel

Let's look at the first settings panel:

Using the first icon in the form of a man with a plus sign, we can invite speakers, just click on the icon and indicate in a special field e-mail addresses speakers we want to invite. And they will be able to host the webinar with you.

The next two icons are responsible for audio and video. As you can see in the screenshot, the icons are highlighted in red - this means that both sound and video are disabled. When you click these icons again, the audio and video will resume.

The next icon allows you to adjust the video quality. If you have slow Internet and the video slows down, you can open this setting and make the video quality a little lower, due to this the broadcast transmission speed will increase.

The next gear-shaped icon hides the settings for your webcam and microphone. If you are unable to transmit sound or video, go to these settings.

And the last icon in the form of a red tube means the end of the broadcast. If you click on it, the broadcast control window will close.

2. Additional settings panel

Now let's look at the left settings panel. It automatically collapses if you do not perform any manipulations. To call it, you need to move the mouse cursor over the left edge of our window.

3. Take a screenshot. This icon allows you to take a photo of your video meeting. Click on the icon once, after which a round camera icon will appear at the very bottom of the webinar window, click on it and a snapshot (screenshot) of the video meeting will be created.

Here you can make settings that affect other speakers. Again, only used if your webinar is hosted by several people. There you can mute them, etc.

In this settings block, you can turn on/off the presenter’s camera and microphone, as well as adjust the volume.

This setting is made to allow you to have a little fun. It only works when the webcam is turned on. Hangouts automatically detects the location of your head and places various funny hats and mustaches on it.

Using this icon, you can enable the broadcast of any video from YouTube in your webinar. In order to start broadcasting a video, click on this icon, then in the pop-up window that appears, click on the “Add video to playlist” button and in the search bar enter either the address of a specific video, or keyword. Then click on the green plus to the right of the video you want to add to the playlist.

After all these manipulations, the video begins to play automatically. And there is a very useful button here (green, immediately below the video). The moment you start the video, your microphone is automatically muted. If you press and hold the green Unmute button, Hangouts will mute the audio of your live video so your listeners can hear you better. Once you've finished speaking, release the green button and the video will return to normal volume.

To remove the video broadcast, click on the Youtube icon again.

This icon displays disabled applications. You can also use this icon to add additional applications from the Google catalog.

3. Start the broadcast

So, we have sorted out all the settings. And now that you know how to manage a video meeting in Google Hangouts, you can start broadcasting. To do this, click on the green “Start broadcast” button.

From this moment on, you are heard and seen by your listeners.

Important point!
Google Hangouts works with a slight time delay. From the moment you pronounce a phrase until the moment your listeners hear it, 40-60 seconds pass.

This is the cost of all the cool features that Google Hangouts offers. This is probably the only significant disadvantage of this service, but you have to put up with it.

4. End the broadcast

So, we come to the end. You performed successfully, held a webinar, what to do next?

After you have finished broadcasting, click the “End” button, at this moment the broadcast ends, but the broadcast window remains open. In order to completely exit and complete the broadcast, click on the red tube.

After this, a pop-up window appears in which we are informed that the live video meeting has ended and the recording of the broadcast will appear on our channel in the video manager in a few minutes. Click “Close” and the window closes. Now you can go to the channel and watch the recording of the broadcast.

And here it’s very convenient: the recording of the broadcast will be located at the same link as the broadcast itself. Those. The recording automatically replaces the live broadcast.

Record online broadcasts has the same settings and functions as regular videos that you upload to the channel.

How to prepare a presentation before broadcast

In the screenshot, the presentation has not started: step 3 of these instructions has not been completed. 10. Select Hide in the notification “The Google Hangouts app has shared hangouts.google.com.

11. Open the presentation window on your computer (on the taskbar) and start the demonstration.
